The Telephonic Behavioral Care Advocate position is telecommute / Work from home from anywhere in Maryland. You will be required to attend a monthly meeting in the Columbia, MD office location. Shift: Monday - Friday during normal business hours.

If you are located in Maryland, you will have the flexibility to telecommute* as you take on some tough challenges.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Oversee initial inpatient admission for psychiatric and chemical dependency patients
  • Make patient assessments and determine appropriate levels of care
  • Administer benefits, review treatment plans, and coordinate transitions between various areas of care
  • Obtain information from providers on outpatient requests for treatment

You'll find the pace fast and the challenges ongoing. We'll expect you to achieve and document measurable results. You'll also need to think and act quickly while working with a diverse member population.

Required Qualifications:
  • Licensed Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or Marriage or Family Counseling, Licensed Ph.D., OR an RN with 2 or more years of experience in behavioral health. Licenses must be active and unrestricted in the state of Maryland
  • 2+ years of Behavioral/Mental health experience post license
  • Basic level of experience with Microsoft Word, with the ability to navigate a Windows environment
  • Access to high speed internet from home
  • A dedicated workspace from home
  • Candidates will be required to obtain a CCM within 30 months of employment if you do not already have one
  • Reside in state of Maryland
Preferred Qualifications:
  • A background in managed care (MCO) or insurance setting
  • Case Management experience
  • Certified Case Manager (CCM)
  • Experience/exposure with discharge planning
  • Experience in utilization review, concurrent review and/or risk management
  • Strong organizational skills and multitasking abilities will be keys to success
