Position Summary


Top level Business Intelligence expert in one or more highly specialized areas within the healthcare environment. Role in developing clinical/business solutions including cube/EDW solutions. Design and present solutions and options that improve patient care, enhance patient engagement, improve operational efficiency and improve Centura’s financial position, Integrates organizational knowledge with thoughtful design. This position works with analysts and experts at Epic and third party systems support to build, configure, deploy, implement, operate, support, and maintain the database of the highly complex and fast-growing health-care environment. This position is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of numerous environments within the system including Production, Development, Test, and Training environments. This position also requires the ability to visualize, develop and maintain ETL processes as well as enterprise-level solutions that meet the needs of a fast-paced Business Intelligence organization. Strong organizational as well as communication skills a must. A strong candidate for this position will be experienced in the software development life-cycle. This candidate must be a team oriented person who loves to contribute to the overall success of the team.


Minimum Education Requirements




  • High School degree or GED required
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, computer sciences, math, information systems, statistics or related; or equivalent work experience considered



Minimum Experience Requirements




  • Five years Database Development programming
  • Five years of Experience Design, Developing and maintaining ETL processes
  • Five years working with healthcare systems analysis/programming preferred
  • Five years SQL, SSIS, SSRS Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication.
  • Knowledge of healthcare operations preferred
  • Organized, self-starter
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must gain extensive knowledge of organizations policies, procedure and business operations
  • Understands system options and configurations completely and can suggest and lead teams through decisions on the best way to configure and utilize the system



License/Certifications




  • EPIC certification required upon hire or within 90 days of hire/transfer
  • Ongoing maintenance of Epic certification(s) required



Position Duties (essential functions denoted with an * )




  • Responsible for designing and developing the overall ETL infrastructure at the enterprise level. *
  • Develops, Manages and Maintains several ETL processes throughout the organization that feed multiple databases, data marts and data warehouses.*
  • Designs, develops and optimizes stored procedures used throughout the organization. *
  • Responsible for code reviews, testing and approval to advance code from development to production environments. *
  • Identify and manage new system and database specifications, user services and coordination of installations. *
  • Architects and designs complex database solution to assist and promote data based decisions within departments and company-wide. *
  • Expected to fully participate in suggesting and implementing best practices from both a coding and database development perspective. *
  • Analyzes database needs based on customer requirements and organizational direction to facilitate research and recommendations for cost effective hardware and software solutions. *
  • Install and maintains all database infrastructure and services in compliance with established architectural standards. *
  • Monitors, reports and manages performance of database infrastructure and applications and services as required. *
  • Troubleshoots all database infrastructure issues including database backups, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions. Participates in an on call rotation for database support. *
  • Assess business rules; perform source to target data mapping; designing, reviewing, implementing and optimizing ETL processes. *
  • Review project plans, develop and test specifications; perform data analysis. *
  • Provide development support for existing systems; troubleshooting data and or system issues, building and extending toolsets. *
  • Create and/or maintain batch jobs. *
  • Create and maintain online systems and printed documentation. *
  • Mentor the other ETL developers. *
  • Provide data analysis and identify data related issues within the Data Warehouse environment as well as source systems as needed. *
  • Ability to quickly adapt to changing needs, adjusted processes and ambiguity. *
  • Provide quality service satisfaction by possessing strong customer service skill sets. *
  • Create and maintain the logical and physical dimensional data models. *
  • Serves as resource and advocate for assigned user group(s). *
  • Identifies and manages new system specifications or user services and coordination of installations. *
  • Analyzes, designs, and make recommendations to improve existing systems and/or methods, and provide written, detailed reports. *
  • Assesses assigned user areas for efficiencies and effectiveness. Evaluates alternative services and technology solutions on an ongoing basis and assures cost-effective solutions. *
  • Coordinates the preparation of departmental and interdepartmental policies and procedures, job functions, operating procedures, manuals, and system documentation. *
  • Maintains complete and up-to-date project documentation for all assigned projects. *
  • Assists with a variety of related projects and staff education on an ad hoc basis. *
  • Responsible for providing systems support. Ability to coordinate various systems. *
  • Leads large/complex projects or initiatives. *
  • Provide solutions for application issues and complex support for trouble shooting difficult situations.
  • Acts as the group resources for complex issues needing resolution. *
  • Performs a variety of tasks to support the organizational initiatives. *
  • Designs, builds, tests, implements, and supports information technology solutions to meet operational and clinical needs. *
  • Works closely with customers to document requirements and communicate effectively with customers and peers to implement changes. *
  • Supports/maintains day-to-day existing functionality/programs/applications including ancillary systems support. *
  • Performs intermediate to advanced system analysis and troubleshooting to implement new functionality/programs/applications, and to analyze/research vendor release notes and documentation; understanding complete end-to-end system integration. *
  • Creates thorough system design and build documentation. *
  • Collaborates with other analysts, Centura staff, vendors, and leadership. *
  • Performs advanced analysis using databases and data reporting tools. *
  • Mentors other analysts on troubleshooting issues of intermediate to advanced complexity and creating system design solutions. *
  • Works under minimal direction. *
  • Assists in identifying any barriers to adoption of clinical practice. *
  • May also be responsible for building Universes/Cubes, Extracts and develop solutions with SlicerDicer and Third-party tools (Xcelsius/WebI/QlikView/Explorer). *
  • Coordinates all phases of a system optimization or upgrade project and provides production services, such as recommending improvements to strategy, system usage and process through the application of business and technology skill sets. *
  • Facilitates performance improvement for the effective use of information technology. *
  • Supports business/clinical operations with clinical and financial end users. *
  • Supporting continued system maintenance and optimization. *
  • Analyze the functionality of system and how it fits or not with operations; The ability to troubleshoot basic problems and recommend and take appropriate action as required. *
  • Provide technology consulting and customer support services. *
  • Actively addresses issues, taking ownership of projects. * o Understanding priorities and urgency o Anticipating and preventing issues o Knowing when to escalate an issue o Communicate skills o Attention to detail
  • Meeting with department heads on a routine basis to identify and prioritize their needs. *

  • On-call coverage (after business hours and weekends) is sometimes required, on a rotational basis or as-needed, if circumstances warrant. *
  • Some travel required, both locally and overnight. *
