Grandma's House (an Elim Children's Center) emphasizes meeting the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional needs of the children in a cozy and homelike setting. Nurturing relationships with the children and residents who call Redeemer Health and Rehab Center their home is the cornerstone of our program. We currently serve children aged 6 weeks to eight years. 

Grandma's House is now hiring an Early Childhood Educator in our inter-generational, Christian Early Childhood Program!

Job Description & Responsibilities:

  • Work hours are variable. 12-18 hours per week plus occasional subbing. We are open Monday through Friday 7:30 am - 5:30 pm
  • Monitor and support the physical, cognitive, social and emotional well-being of the children
  • Support each child's individual needs, interests and growth as well as the collaborative and creative process of the group experience
  • Help maintain an organized, safe, clean and stimulating environment
  • Communicate effectively with families

Working Conditions:

  • Work environment will frequently be busy and occasionally noisy, with a number of activities and situations happening at once, requiring the attention and supervision of the children at all times
  • A portion of the day may be spent outside
  • Essential Physical Requirements Position involves much lifting, bending, squatting, reaching and pushing. Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds. Must be able to get up from and down to the floor numerous times throughout the day

Skills / Requirements

  • Background Check, Drug Test, Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUIDS) training, Abusive Head Trauma (AHT) training, CPR with pediatric focus and First Aid. Background check, drug test and training completion required prior to substitute teaching
  • Respect for children and their potential
  • Knowledge of children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical developmental stages
  • Experience working with children aged 6 weeks to eight years
  • Ability to work with children, parents, colleagues and residents from diverse backgrounds, interests and experiences along with a commitment to supporting intergenerational relationships and activities
  • Flexibility, confidence and a sense of humor
  • Creative and joyful approach to learning and teaching
