This position contributes to the company mission by supervising the coding team members by leading, planning and organizing the daily to monthly functions of the team.  This position works collaboratively with the Billing Manager, Managers of Operations, and Supervisors in developing and implementing reports and training appropriate for the needs of internal customers relative to coding and charge posting. Key to this position is ensuring employee, physician, and patient satisfaction through ongoing open communication.



  • Supervises the workflow of the team
  • Provides ongoing training to employees as new processes or updates are implemented
  • Works closely with the internal customers to identify trends or issues in the billing cycles
  • Ensures all charges (hospital and office) are posted in timely manner
  • Ensures coding accuracy through internal audits of staff coding
  • Maintains auditing schedule for all office and hospital documentation for compliance
  • Provides physician training for proper documentation compliance
  • Provides auditing of physician E&M services
  • Ensures quarterly physician/coder meetings take place and are properly documented
  • Ensures all hospital eligibility and authorizations are complete
  • Collaborates with Manager in the development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures                                                                       
  • Collaborates with Manager on achieving patient, employee, and physician satisfaction initiatives
  • Develops productivity, physician activity, and special reports as requested
  • Assists with interviewing/hiring process of billing personnel
  • Collaborates with Manager on all staff one on one meetings
  • Provides input on all 90 day, 6 month and annual evaluations
  • Tracks absenteeism, approves time off, processes payroll
  • Administers and enforces all TCC Policies and Procedures
  • Lead daily stand-ups, weekly staff meetings
  • Rounds daily on employees
  • Continues to further knowledge base through seminars, in-services, etc.
  • Ensures that all HIPAA guidelines are followed according to TCC policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates behavior that is professional and commensurate with the position in accordance with Tri-City’s Standards of Behavior
  • Utilizes AIDET/customer service standards and demonstrates TCC Standards of Behavior
  • Maintains a professional and courteous environment
  • Maintains strict patient and employee confidentiality
  • Other duties as assigned

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Current Certification as CPC or CCC required
  • Previous experience in ICD and CPT codes
  • Types at least 40 wpm
  • Previous cardiology experience required
  • Previous auditing experience preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred
