Located just seven miles north of downtown Denver, Adams 12 Five Star Schools is close to the conveniences of a major city center yet far enough to offer the quiet of the suburbs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. 1.Maintain the safety and security of the students and campus, foster an optimal learning environment and act as a deterrent to unsafe or poor behavior by providing high visibility throughout the school; walking and surveying hallways, common areas, grounds and parking lots; intervening in verbal and physical encounters among the students; diffusing hostile situations; and enforcing safe school policies regarding weapons, tobacco, illegal substances, traffic rules, dress code, etc. Assist visitors and check for visitor passes.
2.Discuss/mediate infractions with students, provide written accounts of unacceptable behavior/incidents to administrators and assist with assignment of disciplinary measures as necessary. Report unsafe conditions and potential health and safety hazards to administrators.
3.Monitor students during lunch hour inside and outside of the building and during off hours.
4.Assist with the supervision of students in study hall, in-school suspension and/or before/after school ASD (After School Detention).
5.May assist administrators and School Resource Officer (SRO) in the investigation of illegal activity within the school by use of security cameras and performing dangerous substance, weapons and drug searches. Assist staff and students during crisis situations, including fire drills, tornado drills and lockdowns.
6.May provide security at sporting events and/or other extracurricular activities outside of school hours including, weekends, evenings, and occasional nights.
7.Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE:
?High school diploma or equivalent.
?Minimum of 3-5 years experience working with groups of elementary, middle and/or high school students.
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS:
?Criminal background check required for hire.
?Must successfully complete a pre-hire, post-offer physical examination.
?CPR, CPI and First Aid certifications required within 3 months of entering position. Attend follow-up trainings as needed.
Salary placement on our Classified Salary schedule is dependent on theGrade for the position being posted and employees’ previous work experience."Grade" refers to position or job classification and "Step" refers to number ofwork experience credit or service years. Initial placement will be at the Gradefor the position step 1.
Employees regularlyscheduled to work twenty (20) hours per week or more are eligible to receivethe district contribution towards insurance benefits as defined in theClassified Master Agreement Article 11.3, 11.4, and 11.5 and are eligible forbenefits described within this article. Employees regularly scheduled to workless than twenty (20) hours per week, or employees
whose employment istemporary, are not eligible for benefits described within this article. Please refer to the Classified MasterAgreement for more information.
