Job Description

Overall Job Objective


The mission of the Department of Strategy and Performance is to foster a transparent, accountable, performance-based culture by guiding strategic planning, overseeing performance management, and facilitating process improvement in Arapahoe County Government. The Department serves as the stewards and lead facilitators of Align Arapahoe - the County's coordinated efforts in strategy, performance, and process improvement.
The purpose of this temporary position is to further develop the process improvement program in Arapahoe County Government. This opportunity will provide a meaningful professional process improvement experience to an undergraduate college student, master's degree student, or a recently graduated college student with proven academic performance and a strong desire to learn and contribute.


Researches, organizes, and analyzes data on best practices in process improvement.

Assists with developing process improvement tools, trainings, tracking mechanisms, etc.

Assists in facilitating process improvement projects and trainings with County staff members.

Documents completed process improvement exercises after session completion.

Compiles and analyzes survey results from process improvement program participants.

Communicates with process improvement project teams regarding project status, action items, and other necessary follow up.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Any college or university student enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university or graduate program; or recent graduate of an accredited four-year college or university or graduate program.

"Recent graduate" means the individual should have attended an accredited four-year college or university, or graduate program, and have graduated from that college or university during the past two years. 

Must successfully pass pre-employment testing which includes an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) and background check. 

Supplemental Information

Work is generally confined to a standard office environment. 

Work locations and facilities are subject to change based on business need. 

The following are some of the physical demands commonly associated with this position.
Spends 80% of the time sitting and 20% of the time either standing or walking.

Occasionally lifts, carries, pulls or pushes up to 20 lbs.

Occasionally uses cart, dolly, or other equipment to carry in excess of 20 lbs.

Occasionally climbs, stoops, kneels, balances, reaches, crawls and crouches while performing office or work duties.

Verbal and auditory capacity enabling constant interpersonal communication through automated devices, such as telephones, radios, and similar; and in public meetings and personal interactions.

Constant use of eye, hand and finger coordination enabling the use of automated office machinery or equipment.

Visual capacity enabling constant use of computer or other work related equipment. 
Occasionally: Activity exists less than 1/3 of the time.
Frequently: Activity exists between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
Constantly: Activity exists more than 2/3 of the time.
