Provides individual and small group interpretation language support for ELL qualified students and non-English speaking families in their native language. The Bilingual Interpreter serves as a language bridge between the school and students’ family. He/she provides interpretation services for non-English speaking families and English speaking school staff.

Highline Public Schools serves approximately 19,000 students in the communities of Burien, Des Moines, Normandy Park, SeaTac, Boulevard Park and White Center Heights in Washington State. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. - Provide individual or small group verbal language support (interpretation) for students, families and staff. - Assists students, families and teachers to communicate academic achievement. - Works with district staff to communicate student progress and needs. - Performs a wide variety of interpretation (verbal) services - Provides interpretation at student-parent-teacher conferences, IEP conferences, and community meetings. - Serves as a language bridge between the school and the student's family or the community. - Coordinates appointment scheduling between school and parents in parent’s native language. Other Functions - Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit and supporting student learning objectives.


Bilingual in English and at least one other language. Previous experience providing one on one or small group verbal language support (interpretation).


Preference for bilingual in English and any of the following languages (Spanish, Vietnamese, Somali, Cambodian, Cantonese, Lao, Romanian, Mandarin, Bengali, Tagalog, Tongan, Tarasco, Haitian Creole, Korean). Other languages not listed, please also apply for the pool. TESTING REQUIREMENT: Score of "Intermediate-High" or higher on the Oral Proficiency Interview in the target language, based on the ACTFL standards
