SALARY RANGE: $14.51/hr. - $17.17/hr.

POSITION SUMMARY: In a school-based day treatment setting, provide trauma informed care, a safe environment, and intensive supervision of students to ensure successful achievement of educational, social and behavioral goals.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Actively supervise and interact with students in the classroom and milieu according to structured daily schedule
  • Provide a supportive and structured environment for students in order to promote growth and ensure safety
  • Provide direct behavior modification interventions and instruct students on social, emotional, conflict resolution and daily living skills
  • Provide academic assistance, direction and supervision from Special Education Teacher
  • Help lead and actively participate in school and therapeutic programming
  • Intervene with students in crisis, utilizing approved crisis intervention strategies and de-escalation techniques
  • All aspects of TCI model of crisis intervention including physical managements. Follow program guidelines for physical intervention to keep students, self and others safe at all times
  • Help to ensure classroom and milieu safety at all times
  • Complete required clinical documentation per program standards including, but not limited to daily progress notes, student behavioral contracts, classroom rosters, attendance, incident reports and physical management documentation
  • Communicate with parents/guardians regularly to ensure engagement and collaboration to reach student goals
  • Plan and facilitate student activities including field trips, recreational activities and groups
  • Ensure environment is clean and well maintained
  • Transport clients as needed to field trips and community activities
  • Monitor medications and complete required documentation
  • Attend and actively contribute to all required team meetings and training
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Manager and Director of Child & Family Services.

EDUCATION: High School diploma or Associates Degree in Psychology, Social Work or other human service field.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Letter of Recommendation.
  • Physical and TB
  • QMAP, CPR and First Aid Certifications within the first 60 days of employment.

EXPERIENCE: 2 years of experience working in a clinical/educational milieu such as residential, day treatment or an Affective Needs classroom is required. Candidates with experience in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) or other crisis intervention frameworks are preferred.

  • Knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed care principles/practices
  • Once trained, must be able to implement all aspects of the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) model of crisis intervention including physical managements. Candidates are required to test and recertify at regular intervals in order to be in good standing and maintain their position.

MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT TO BE USED: Computers, calculators, fax machines, teaching equipment and classroom tools, copiers, telephone and a variety of other office/clerical equipment.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting, standing, bending, reaching, and squatting. Position requires physical ability to assist students and staff with classroom environment which at times requires physical intervention with students. May require lifting up to 50 pounds, and occasionally require physical intervention with students. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers, fax machines, the telephone and other office and/or clinical equipment.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Primarily M-F daytime work hours, and may require occasional evening hours.
