Position Summary
Performs skilled carpentry duties involving planning, layout, and fabrication, maintaining and repairing of all buildings throughout National Jewish, following industry standards as well as standards established by the department.  
Essential Duties
  1. Listens to and communicates effectively with the Carpentry Supervisor on a daily basis to understand assignments, everyday work orders, and schedules to meet needs of the campus, making recommendations to the Carpentry Supervisor, when appropriate.
  2. Performs journey-level carpentry including but not limited to: planning, layout, framing, hanging drywall, and installing and repairing trim, cabinets, modular office components, doors, windows, frames and hardware, and hanging of pictures and various plaques.
  3. Maintains and repairs roofs, building structures, ceilings, windows, and floors including patching and caulking of concrete and masonry structures.
  4. Maintains, installs and repairs acoustical lift out ceilings and wall protection throughout the Facility.
  5. Installs and repairs different types of flooring and rubber base. 
  6. Maintains and makes various repairs to all types of office furniture and various types of medical equipment working with the Bio-Engineering Department.
  7. Fabricates and repairs Melamine and Formica surfaces, and plexi-glass items including supports and brackets.
  8. Assists with installation of locks and card access control hardware, including but not limited to; electric strikes and maglocks.
  9. Participates in capital construction projects with other trades and contractors.
  10. Communicates verbally and writes down needed supplies IE: any supplies that are running low, as well as any damaged tools or equipment that need to be repaired or replaced.
  11. Responsible for filling out work orders for projects assigned to this position with all necessary information and especially material used.
Other Duties
  1. Fills in for the Carpentry Supervisor when that position is away from the campus working closely with the Director on work orders or projects.
  2. Assists with the fire wall inspection and repair program which includes working on ladder up above ceilings in finished areas. 
  3. Creates new and installs signage  for room identification using the computer generated vinyl lettering software.
  4. Part of the snow removal team, cleaning the sidewalks leading into our buildings, using a show shovel during snow storms.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
Work Experience
At least four (4) years of carpenter construction experience required,  of which 2 years (of the four years) preferred in the commercial field.  
Special Training, Certification or Licensure
Current Colorado driver’s license required.
