Provides primary support to the provider by proactively anticipating the providers needs, preparing the patient for the visit using established patient preparation guidelines, maintaining efficient patient flow, and assisting the provider with treatments and procedures
*Performs scribe functions to assigned provider(s)
*Uses advanced training to perform procedures with completed and documented competency, within scope of certification and PHS policy and under the direct supervision of the provider. These procedures include performing treadmill exercise tolerance tests, stress echocardiograms, 6-minute walk tests, and nuclear stress tests. Provides coverage to the EKG Department


*Teamwork: Participates on interdisciplinary team to meet patient care and clinic operation needs, working cooperatively with others to accomplish required work in a timely and efficient manner.
*Visit Navigation: Prepares patient for the visit using established patient preparation guidelines, collecting appropriate and accurate data, and providing all aspects of primary support to the provider. Provides scribe responsibilities for assigned provider(s).
*Equipment and Procedures: Uses patient care equipment and performs patient procedures in a safe, competent manner according to defined standards of practice.
*Message Management / Test Result Notification: Responsible for taking patient calls and initiating Telephone Encounter(s) for the providers and care team. Ensures accurate, timely response to and documentation of patient calls, message requests, and notification of test results. Trained in various programs to include but not limited to scheduling, prior authorizations, and referral management.
*Direct Care Activities: The Cardiology Tech-Noninvasive II is required to complete advanced skills such as Basic Arrhythmia Class and Treadmill Training Protocol within 9 months of hire date. Performs the following functions:
*Treadmill exercise tolerance tests
*Stress echocardiograms
*Nuclear stress tests
*Application of holter and event monitors
*Indirect Care Activities: Responsible for Kanban system for stocking exam rooms and procedure room. Maintains a clean, organized, safe, well-stocked environment, and follows infection control and regulatory standards.
*Provides support for clerical functions when needed to include scheduling, referral management, and prior authorizations:
*Manages patients calls
*Schedules patient appointments according to guidelines as defined by standard work
*Monitors providers schedule to identify no shows for rescheduling. Places reminder calls to patients
*Manages prior authorization for durable medical equipment, diagnostics, and specialties.
*Manages referrals for diagnostic testing or specialist
*Manages and maintains tracking of Advanced Directives, FMLA, and other patient forms
*Customer Service and Caring Practices: Applies AIDET principles as well as good listening, oral and interpersonal communication skills to create a supportive, therapeutic environment, and provides responsive, compassionate care in meeting patient, significant other, and family requests and needs.
*Communication: Communicates pertinent patient data to provider, keeping him/her informed of issues and concerns regarding patients or the environment.
*Quality Improvement: Works collaboratively with care team to meet process improvement goals and clinical quality metrics. Responsible for orientation and training of new cardiology techs under the direction of the Clinic Manager. Serves as a mentor for newly hired cardiology techs

*Completed Medical Assistant program from an accredited school
*Maintains current training in following:
*BLS (AHA and ASHI Healthcare Provider) required for all
*Annual Basic Arrhythmia Class and Pass Basic Arrhythmia Challenge Test within 9 months of hire date
*Completes Scribe training
*1 year of cardiac medicine experience AND 3 years of experience as a Medical Assistant.
*Requires knowledge of complex cardiac rhythms and arrhythmias
*Maintains current certifications in required emergency response trainings (i.e. BLS).
*Completes all Organizational, Department of Nursing and Department-Specific competency training/requirements within specified timeframe.
