Job Description

Basic Job Functions
  • Day Camp starts on Monday, June 22nd, 2020 and ends on Friday, August 7th, 2020.
  • Provides instruction and supervision to campers in SeaWorld's Day Camp Program at SeaWorld San Diego.
  • Acts as a role model to campers by displaying team spirit and enthusiasm throughout the entire camp season.
  • Enthusiastically represents SeaWorld by displaying a positive attitude, high level of energy and commitment to quality throughout all aspects of the job.

Principle Duties
  • Ensures excellent customer service by responding to customer and camper requirements, expectations, and needs.
  • Carries out activities and teaches animal information as outlined in the camp curriculum, which can include: role play, making crafts, singing camp songs, playing camp games, and reading stories.
  • Supervises campers throughout the day.
  • Dines with campers.
  • Meets and assists parents and campers.
  • Assists in the arrival an departure transportation of campers.
  • Chaperones campers to out-of-park activities.
  • Monitors camper behavior during camp and completes necessary paperwork.
  • Assists zoological staff with campers and work areas.
  • Assists in maintenance of equipment and supplies as well as inventory of all materials.
  • Occasionally assists other locations and areas in the park as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Skills, Knowledge, Education, and Training
  • Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Must have a High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Must have a valid California driver’s license; visiting students and military must have valid driver's license from state of residency and able to provide a copy of the DMV report. Must be able to meet the requirements to drive SeaWorld vehicles.
  • Must have CPR/AED/First Aid certification by the first day of work from American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or National Safety Council.
  • Must be comfortable working with children 6-13 years of age and demonstrate resilience in a fast-paced, kid-centric environment with minimal downtime.
  • Must be able to positively interact with guests and co-workers of all ages, different ethnic/cultural backgrounds and/or language, and individuals with special needs.
  • Must be able to conduct physical activity such as: climbing, crawling, kneeling, lifting, pushing, pulling, walking, standing, reaching, grasping.
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 50lbs. and stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must have strong written/verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to use mechanical devices such as microphone systems (hand held or headset), voice projector, computer, video projector, slide screen, television, equipment lift, and inflatable teaching tools.
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoor weather conditions (e.g., direct sunlight, wet, and/or humid conditions).
  • Must be able to work near marine and terrestrial animals and crowds of people.
  • Two years experience working in a camp environment preferred.
  • Education, Recreation, Early Childhood Development, Marine Biology, Biology, or Zoology majors preferred.

Hours and Availability
  • Hours varies
  • Must have 5 days of unrestricted availability, Monday through Friday, from June 22nd through the end of season
