Job Description

Primary purpose and function of position
Supports the technical services area by directing and training Electronic Services Lead and technicians. Troubleshoots and assists in maintaining SeaWorld show and attraction related equipment and elements when required. Enthusiastically represents SeaWorld by displaying a positive attitude, high level of energy and commitment to quality throughout all aspects of the job.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for effectively Supervising the mentoring and training of direct reports to sustain daily operations.
  • Continuously evaluates and modifies department processes based on changing business conditions.
  • Responsible for creating labor and expense budgets including budget forecasting; tracks operating and labor expense and communication variance explanations to manager.
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with team members, peers, and managers within and across departments.
  • Oversees written evaluations and the annual performance appraisal of team members.
  • Responsible for requisition and hiring process of team members within an assigned work groups.
  • Supervises training and development of new and existing team members.
  • Supervises staff in maintaining focus on department goals.
  • Supervises staff scheduling process.
  • Assesses quality of our product in order to maintain high standards expected by park guests.
  • Troubleshoots effectively to attain positive outcome.
  • Maintains safe work environment and safety requirements.
  • Produces and maintains accurate documentation.
  • Delegates appropriately to promote an atmosphere of self-improvement and learning.
  • Maintains cleanliness of all assigned work areas.
  • Maintains, upholds and respects all team member confidentiality and leadership issues.
  • Maintains a positive and flexible attitude.
  • Positively interacts with guests, employees and others.
  • Occasionally may assist other locations and areas throughout the park as needed.

  • Responsible for advanced systems training for all personnel.
  • Uses acquired knowledge and experience to train technicians to succeed.
  • Responsible for over site of all installations and maintenance of specific show related elements, park attractions, park communication system and other projects as assigned.
  • Demonstrates proficient and safe utilization of tools related to their technical field and assigned work group.
  • Ensure junior technicians receive all required safety training.
  • Collaborates with internal and external customer departments.
  • Maintains a positive and flexible attitude in an ever-changing work environment.
  • Ensures excellent guest service by responding to customer requirements and expectations.
  • Serves as department duty manager as required.
  • Assists in other work areas as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Scope of Job
  • Administers an annual supply/maintenance budget of $250,000. Responsible for monthly credit card purchases ($0-$2500) as it relates to assigned area of responsibility or project.
  • Responsible for the leadership of 12 employees.

Qualifications for Position
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have valid California driver's license; visiting students and military must have valid driver's license from state of residency and able to provide a copy of the DMV report.
  • Be able to positively interact with guests and co-workers of all ages, different ethnic/cultural backgrounds and/or language, and individuals with special needs.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of computer-based resources (such as Microsoft Office Suite) and other park related programs and technical-related software preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge with basic financial reports (i.e., expense and labor reports).
  • Ability to effectively present information to management and work group.
  • Able to complete assigned projects in a timely and professional manner.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Able to maintain a positive and flexible attitude in an ever-changing work environment.
  • Outstanding trouble shooting and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent organization and planning skills.
  • Must be able to stand, walk and/or sit for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Must be able to complete assigned projects in a timely and professional fashion.
  • Must be able to meet required availability including weekends, holidays, late evenings and early mornings
  • Must be able work indoors and in outdoor weather conditions (i.e. humidity conditions, direct sunlight).
  • Must have leadership skills to successfully manage Electronic Services tech team.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of electronic theory and applied hands on experience in component level troubleshooting.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot down to component level in the following areas; wireless equipment and audio equipment.
  • Must be proficient with the following test equipment; Digital Multi Meter, Oscilloscope, RF Spectrum Analyzer.
  • Must be highly motivated and a self starter.
  • Must be able to operate a high reach manlift and forklift and work at heights up to 90 feet.

Education & Special Skill
Associates degree, vocational training or technical trade school required.

Two or more years experience as Lead in a related technical field such as electronics, audio and/or video, audio and/or video hardware preferred.
