Role Summary/Purpose:

Reporting to the SVP, Account Management and Transaction Fraud Leader, the VP Account Management Smart Growth Leader will lead set and drive smart growth line increases strategies that meet SYF’s strategic vision of leveraging incremental data and advanced analytics to improve the customer experience and improve P & L performance.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Sets and drives the growth strategy roadmap that meets SYF’s strategic vision.
  • Partner with advanced modeling teams to drive targeting/treatment solutions that meet business objectives
  • Drive enhancements to differentiate the core growth strategies across strategic portfolio segments that capitalize on the unique aspects of those segments.
  • Hands on Player/Coach that will mentor team to raise the skill level of the team and to ensure progress is achieved
  • Partner with strategy optimization role to ensure strategy actions meet SYF financial commitments and risk appetite
  • Work with finance team/PCMs team to ensure strategies are driving the desired P & L impacts
  • Evaluate effectiveness of Champion Challenger Strategy Tests
  • Strategy owners are ultimately responsible for the ongoing effectiveness and monitoring of their strategies. As such this role will develop the framework for how we monitor, measure and report the results of our strategies to business
  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience in a strategic credit risk management role, or in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, 14+ years of experience in strategic credit risk management
  • 7+ years of experience in a credit risk strategy development role

Desired Characteristics:

  • Leadership experience operating at a strategic level as part of a cross functional team
  • SAS, R or Python Programming Skills
  • Experience analyzing large data sets to derive strategic, segments, actionable credit insights
  • Experience using multiple Credit Decision Systems (e.g. Credit Bureaus) to make consumer credit strategy decision.
  • Experience developing Consumer / Commercial Credit Risk Strategies.
  • Ability to conduct advanced data analysis and complex designs algorithm
  • Experience using advanced modeling & data mining techniques (e.g. Machine learning, Big Data) to develop/ optimize Credit strategies
  • Strong communication and presentation skills and the ability to interact with and present to SYF senior leaders
  • Leadership experience operating at a strategic level as part of a cross functional team
  • Master’s Degree or MBA with advanced analytic focus, or equivalent advanced degree

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the selection process
  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
  • Effective 1-1-18, new hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles.  Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles.  Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months’ time in position before they can post.  All internal employees must have at least a "consistently meets expectations" performance rating and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance requirement).

The salary range for this position is 100,000.00 - 200,000.00 USD Annual

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA and Metro NY and some positions are bonus eligible.
