Position Description
The IT Support Senior Specialist has an expert level of technical knowledge and experience in one or more IT-related areas for the organization. This position’s scope of responsibility includes providing technical support and assistance to departments, faculty, staff, and students with the use of software applications, customized applications, systems support, and websites, etc. The Senior IT Support Specialist will also manage team members and area or unit IT software projects in support of business operations.

Major/Essential Functions
The 86th Texas Legislature priorities focused heavily on behavioral/mental health and school safety.  The Campus Alliance for Telehealth Resources (CATR) Project is designated to roll out this program.  The CATR program is led by an executive team including the Director of the Texas Tech Mental Health Institute, the Chair of the Psychiatry Department, and the Executive Vice President and Director for the F. Marie Hall Institute for Rural and Community Health.  This position to be part of this new program. 
  • Serves as a primary IT liaison to spokes.
  • Advises and assist with management of video-conferencing software installation and connection testing.
  • Analyzes and solves problems related to complex computer applications and systems for hub and spoke sites.
  • Provides a wide range of in-depth technical assistance and guidance to both spoke and hub participants.
  • Reviews, evaluates, and recommends solutions for hardware and software acquisitions.
  • Uses established fact-finding procedures, knowledge of pertinent work processes and procedures, and familiarity with related programming practices, system software, and computer equipment to provide required analysis of business and/or scientific problems.
  • Develops and delivers IT related presentations to replicating partners.
  • Facilitates TeleECHO clinics from an IT standpoint.
  • Maintains knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.
  • Provides technical leadership for research and development initiatives and in the implementation of new technologies.
  • Maintains applicable records including user lists, user accounts and security, and equipment inventory.
  • Performs routine hardware and software maintenance and assists in proper upkeep and utilization of systems.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Capability in problem-solving and assisting on videoconferencing software applications and hardware systems.
  • Knowledge on maintaining videoconferencing systems. Troubleshooting and maintain computer equipment.
  • Experience in providing individual and group instruction.
  • Knowledge of current technological developments/trends in area of expertise.
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations.
  • Ability to determine computer problems and to coordinate hardware and/or software solutions.
  • Ability to provide technical coordination and management of development and/or implementation projects in area of expertise.
  • Ability to provide operational guidance and leadership to technical staff in area of specialty.
  • Ability to communicate technical guidance and instruction to users on the use of PC and/or mainframe applications and systems.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance on computer hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of available computing and/or network hardware and peripheral equipment.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with coursework in computer science, MIS, IT, or other related area plus seven (7) years related full-time paid experience.
